While "Brian Wilson Presents Smile" premiered in concert and on CD in 2004, the songs themselves date back to 1966 and 1967. This will be an attempt to give a description of those original sessions. I will also attempt to note the sessions that have been released, officially and unofficially.

The session descriptions for each date are gathered from a variety of SMiLE scholars, including Jason Penick, Lou Schenk, Darren Lawrence, David Prokopy, Andrew G. Doe, Ed Howard, Peter Reum, and many others.

The session descriptions found in the "Available Session Recordings" and "Official Releases" sections for each song are mainly by Darren Lawrence and Jason Penick, with a few by me.
